This article is a step by step guide on pivot profile creation for Systran V8 Enterprise Server. The pivot profile creation will depend on your licence, you should have this option in your license to be able to create it.

A pivot profile is a combination of 2 profiles with a common language (which will become the pivot language), in order to propose a new translation direction, not available “as is” among the Translation Resources.

 

Pre-requisite

You must have 1 profile for each of this language pairs under 'Profile Editing' tab. If you do not have them, then create them first.

 

Procedure to create a pivot profile

In below steps and examples you will see that I will create a Pivot profile from Spanish to French (ESFR) from two languages ESEN & ENFR, so here English is the common language.​

Steps to create a pivot profile

 1. First go to profiles and click on profile editing

 ​

 

2. From the profile editing menu, click on add button

​ 

 

3. Once you click on the add button a new window will pop-out. Choose the source and the target language and select to create a profile.​

For example : Pivot profile ESFR

On the next screen, name you profile and choose the appropriate resources in right order according to the FLOW of the translation: 

So here first I will choose ESEN and click on select

Next choose ENFR and select to add on the list

Verify the selection result and click on submit:

4. Now you should see your pivot profile available on the profile editing screen:

As usual, do not forget to create an active profile based on this neely created pivot engine.

 

Go to Active profiles  and click on create  ​

Name your profile and check the permissions:

Click on next and select your Pivot engine (ESFR) created during the previous procedure and click on submit. Once created you will be able to see it under the list of active profile:
